Wedding day coordination in Wollongong & Illawarra

I'm Sara, a Sydney-based wedding day coordinator, and I coordinate weddings across Wollongong and the Illawarra, from Stanwell Park and Austinmer to the city beaches. Packages are $1,800 for 6 hours, $2,000 for 8 hours and $2,200 for 10 hours, each with three planning meetings and a full run sheet, plus a travel fee quoted upfront.

The Illawarra packs beaches, clifftops and escarpment views into a short drive from Sydney. Couples often plan a ceremony in one place, photos at Sea Cliff Bridge or Stanwell Park and a reception somewhere else, which means a lot of moving pieces on one stretch of coast road.

I hold that together: the run sheet, transport between locations, the photographer's timing, supplier arrivals and the backup plan if the weather turns.

What I plan for on a Wollongong wedding day

Every region has its own quirks. These are the Wollongong-specific details I build into your run sheet.

Ceremonies on council beaches and parks

Wollongong City Council parks and beaches are alcohol-free and ceremony-only, use isn't exclusive, and amplified sound needs approval. I'll confirm the current conditions with council for your chosen spot and plan the move from ceremony to reception.

    Golden hour and the escarpment

The escarpment sits to the west of the beaches, so east-facing beaches can lose direct sun before the official sunset time, while clifftop and escarpment venues keep the evening light longer. Your photographer and I time the ceremony and portraits with that in mind.

    Grand Pacific Drive photo stops

Sea Cliff Bridge, Bald Hill and Stanwell Park are popular photo stops, and they're busy public places. I build realistic travel and photo time into the run sheet so you're not rushing back for your entrance.

    Wet autumns

March is typically Wollongong's wettest month, right in the autumn wedding peak. A confirmed wet-weather plan with your venue is essential, and I make the call with you early on the day.

    Seasons, sunset and timing

Spring and autumn are the busiest times for Illawarra weddings. Autumn is also the wettest stretch, with March the wettest month, so wet-weather planning matters. Summer brings warm, long evenings and occasional southerly changes.

Book 3–6 months ahead for day-of coordination; popular dates go earlier.

"Thank you so much for everything, Sara! The wedding ran so smoothly thanks to you. My wedding day was so seamless, and I was so relaxed the entire time."

    Wollongong wedding coordination FAQs

Not on council land: Wollongong City Council parks and beaches are alcohol-free and ceremony-only. Most couples hold the ceremony on the beach or in a park and then move to a licensed venue, and I coordinate that transition.

They're better suited to photos than ceremonies: they're busy public spaces with traffic and limited room. I'll help you plan a photo stop that fits your timeline, with a ceremony at a nearby beach, garden or venue.

Earlier than you'd think. The escarpment behind the beaches can put them in shade before official sunset. Your photographer and I will plan portraits around the light on your date.

We confirm a covered or indoor option with your venue before the day. Autumn is the wettest season here, so it's worth having a plan you'd be just as happy with.

Usually, yes. A venue coordinator looks after the venue: the room, their staff, food and drinks. I look after you: the full-day run sheet, every outside supplier (photographer, florist, celebrant, band, hair and makeup, transport), your bridal party and family, and the moments that happen away from the venue. I work alongside the venue team, never against them.

Yes, a travel fee applies outside the Sydney metro area. It's based on distance and timing (for example, whether an early start means I need to stay nearby the night before), and it's confirmed in your quote before you book, so there are no surprises.
